Dalia Tvardauskaite is a Lithuanian-Italian contemporary artist whose practice is rooted in mosaic and extends into site-specific installation, monumental art and sound.
Her work explores mosaic beyond its traditional relationship with permanence and decoration, approaching it instead as a material language through which fragments, surfaces and existing architectures can be reorganised. She is particularly interested in the tension between preservation and transformation, and in the ways discarded, residual or historically charged materials can acquire new meanings through artistic intervention.
Born in Vilnius in 1994 and raised in Italy, Tvardauskaite studied Visual Arts and Mosaic at the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna and continued her research at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she worked across monumental art, glass, fresco and site-specific practices. Her work develops between the Italian and Lithuanian contexts, bringing together the material traditions of mosaic with an increasingly interdisciplinary approach.
Her recent projects include “Musivale”, an interactive mosaic and sound installation developed for Residenze Musive II within the GAeM programme and presented in Ravenna during the Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic. Her work has also been presented in institutional and exhibition contexts in Italy, Lithuania and Poland.
Tvardauskaite lives and works between Ravenna, Venice and Vilnius.
